Overview

Brilliant Stars is a 186-card expansion released in February 2022, introducing the VSTAR mechanic as an evolution beyond Pokemon V. VSTAR Pokemon feature a once-per-game VSTAR Power (attack or ability) and give up only 2 Prize cards, unlike the 3 from VMAX. The set also debuted the Trainer Gallery subset with character-focused artwork. Charizard VSTAR and Arceus VSTAR headline the set.

Most valuable cards

Charizard VSTAR rainbow rare (#174) is the flagship at $50-100+ near-mint. Arceus VSTAR gold secret rare (#184) commands $30-50. The Trainer Gallery Charizard V (TG13) is a sought-after character rare at $20-40. Lumineon V alternate art (#156) holds $30-50 with its beautiful aquatic scene. Umbreon VMAX Trainer Gallery (TG23) is another premium pull.

Tips to finish the set

Brilliant Stars at 186 cards is more manageable than Fusion Strike. The Trainer Gallery subset adds 30 character-focused cards worth collecting separately. Charizard VSTAR variants are the primary chase, but the Trainer Gallery offers more affordable premium cards with excellent artwork.
