Generation V: Truth & Ideals
Generation V rebooted the TCG with Pokemon-EX (uppercase — always Basic, 170-180 HP, two-prize Pokemon with powerful single attacks). Pokemon Black and White launched in Japan (September 2010) and North America (March 2011), with Black 2 and White 2 arriving in 2012. The TCG block opened with Black & White (April 2011) and ran through Legendary Treasures (November 2013). Black & White introduced full-art Trainer and Pokemon cards for the first time — a format that has defined every subsequent generation. Reshiram and Zekrom anchored Truth and Ideals respectively, while Kyurem (and its Black/White Kyurem fusion forms) extended the Tao trio into Gen 5's second half. The Plasma-themed sets (Plasma Storm, Plasma Freeze, Plasma Blast) introduced team-specific mechanics and Team Plasma Pokémon. Legendary Treasures (November 2013) compiled era highlights and introduced the Radiant Collection subset.
