Sword & Shield ベースセットは2020年2月に216枚で第8世代の TCG 時代の幕を開けました。ポケモン V（GX に代わるもの）とポケモン VMAX（ダイマックス／キョダイマックスのメカニズム）を導入し、それぞれきぜつしたときにサイドを2枚と3枚取られます。このセットは伝説の狼 Zacian と Zamazenta とともに Galar 地方のポケモンを披露します。
